Empathy

In this video, Adam Parker sings a song about the importance of having empathy for others. It’s a great song to sing along to so check out the lyrics below. Empathy is being aware of how people around us may be feeling. The song explains how we can use empathy to learn how others are feeling and how we can use compassion to help each other out. Empathy is one of the most important social-emotional lessons kids can learn to use in their everyday lives.

Lyrics

Empathy is feeling what others are feeling you can tell by the clues on their bodies and faces when someone’s feeling down yeah you see them sad on the playground you can see it and feel it with them Show some compassion and ask them to play you’ll bring a little happiness into their day But it all starts By reading their faces Take a deep breath, and talk your self up Inner coach will prevail through all of this stuff Because with empathy we can be a great person

Feelings

In this video, Adam Parker moves inside when a snowstorm covers his backyard in white flakes. He discusses what feelings are and how they affect us. Mr. Parker talks about how he has negative feelings about traffic but how he has positive feelings about eating sweets and playing music. He talks about how if we understand our feelings we can be in more control of them. By using colors, Mr. Parker sings a song about how different feelings come up and what they can do to our state of mind. Once we realize when we mentally move into these different zones or colors of feelings, we can better control our feelings and our emotions.

Lyrics

I smile when I’m happy I’m frowning when I’m sad it’s the little things that get to me and I start to feel mad and frustrated I can feel it in my body. When I’m clenching my fist’s and my face is turning red no I can’t hear you I don’t know what you said because I’m in the red zone and I’m out of control. If I am feeling tired and sad without a clue I bet I have low energy my color is blue I could be sad or just need another nap. That’s why it’s important to know how you’re feeling realizing your body clues the energy you’re dealing with then you can use some skills

There’s a whole lot of things to be grateful for Pretty stars up in the sky, or dancing on the floor, there’s a whole lot of things to be grateful for I know we can’t see our friends right now, but we could still them anyhow There’s a whole lot of things to be grateful for I could go outside and kick a soccer ball, or jump around the house and try not to fall, there’s a whole lot of things to be grateful for I got a big group of people that I really love, if my parents are around I could give them a hug, I could be really good at riding bikes, if the wind picks up I might fly a kite There’s a whole lot of things to be grateful for

A lesson around recognizing your triggers and anger buttons Lyrics Think about the things that are making you mad Take a pulse check before you start to do s...

Triggers

In this video, Adam Parker explains how triggers can be clues into what causes us to be angry. By paying attention to the things that make us angry we can work to overcome our anger. Mr. Parker describes how anger is very similar to a thermometer and how by watching out for triggers that make us angry we can avoid losing our temper. By making our own thermometer on a piece of paper we can figure out the things that make us mad. He finishes up with a song to help remember these important skills.

Lyrics

Think about the things that are making you mad Take a pulse check before you start to do something bad If you know you don’t like losing keep your cool you choose it it all starts with being aware Of your anger buttons If you know what ticks you off You can beat it like it’s nothing Just be aware of your anger buttons The things that make you mad

Compassion

In this video, Adam Parker celebrates spirit day by wearing college gear so if you have any college gear make sure to put it on. In this video, he discusses the concept of compassion and how important it is when we deal with other people. Compassion is the acting part of empathy. So for instance when we see someone having a bad day, compassion can be talking with that person or maybe giving them a hug. It’s not about doing something for a reward, instead, it means being kind to everyone we meet. You can show compassion for your family and friends or even someone you don’t know very well. Mr. Parker tells a story about a kid he knows who donated their toys to sick kids in the hospital and why this shows compassion. The cool thing about compassion is that it helps other people feel good, but we usually feel better after we show compassion. Mr. Parker finishes up with a song to help us understand compassion with some surprise guests.

Lyrics

Call you up, on the phone Hanging out, if you’re all alone Let you borrow my toys Bring you all kinds of joy It’s not to hard to show people that you care
